If you travel alone and don’t book a single room, you will share a double room with another participant of the group.
The visa fee of EUR 50 is not included in the tour fee and has to be paid in cash during the pre-tour meeting in Beijing on the day before the tour.
Optional Chilbosan Extension (6 days / 5 nights in total) with domestic flight and 4 nights in Chilbosan / Chongjin.

Day 0 (Monday, 10th August)
13:00h (1pm) – Obligatory pre-tour meeting of the group in Beijing’s Yi Beiping Beijing Story Restaurant (PDF). Handover and payment of your North Korean visa. Pre-tour briefing. Complementary Chinese-Korean Dinner (1 meal per person is included in the tour fee, extra drinks have to be paid individually). Train passengers take the night train to Pyongyang departing Beijing Railway Station at 17:25h.
 


Day 1 (Tuesday, 11th August)
13:05h (1.05pm) – Departure for flight passengers to Pyongyang with Air Koryo from Beijing Capital International Airport (Terminal 2), 16:05h (4.05pm) Arrival in Pyongyang, Transfer from the airport into the city centre, Arch of Triumph (built in 1982 to commemorate the return of President Kim Il Sung to Pyongyang after the end of the Korean War / an optional visit to the viewing platform costs EUR 5 per pax), Orientation walk in the city centre, Kim Il Sung Square, Vienna Coffee House, Dinner at a local Restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel
 


Day 2 (Wednesday, 12th August)
Breakfast, Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Museum of the Korean War), USS Pueblo (US spy ship captured by the Korean People’s Army in the territorial waters of the DPRK in 1968), Lunch at a local restaurant, Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Cemetery, Tomb of Tangun (the mythological founder of Korea), Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel
 


Day 3 (Thursday, 13th August)
Breakfast, Kumsusan Palace of the Sun (Mausoleum of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il)*, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery*, Lunch at a local restaurant, Kwangbop Temple (Buddhist temple of the Koguryo period, destroyed by US bombs in the Korean War, rebuilt in 1990), Tower of the Juche Idea (built in 1982 to mark the 70th birthday of President Kim Il Sung / an optional visit to the viewing platform costs EUR 5 per pax), Monument to Party Founding (built in 1996 to honour the Worker’s Party of Korea), Dinner at Pyongyang Duck Barbecue Restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

Liberation Day – 75th anniversary of the liberation from Japanese occupation (military parade expected)
Breakfast, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monuments (giant bronze statues of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il)*, Chollima Statue, Visit to Pyongyang Zoo, Lunch at a local restaurant, Celebrations in the city centre, Ride on the Pyongyang Metro (the world’s deepest metro system), Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 6 (Sunday, 16th August)
Breakfast, Drive to Pyongsong, Paeksong Revolutionary Site (site where Kim Il Sung University hid during the Koran War), Lunch at a local restaurant, Drive to Mt. Myohyang, Ryongmun Cavern (huge underground cave with fascinating rock formations), Dinner and overnight at Chongchon Hotel
 


Day 7 (Monday, 17th August)
Breakfast, Pohyon Temple (Buddhist temple of the 11th century), International Friendship Exhibition (huge underground exhibition of state gifts given to the DPRK leaders by international statesmen and business people), Lunch at Chongchon Hotel, Drive to Pyongyang, Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel
 


Day 8 (Tuesday, 18th August)
Breakfast, Drive to Nampo on the Korean West Coast, Sea Barrage (giant dam regulating the water level of the Taedong River), Drive to Mt. Kuwol and Sahwang Peak (if weather conditions permit), Drive to the city of Sariwon, Lunch at a local restaurant, Orientation walk, Songbul Temple, Sariwon Folk Street, Jongbang Fortress, Dinner at overnight at Hotel 8th March
 


Day 9 (Wednesday, 19th August)
Breakfast, Monument of Reunification (built in 2001 to commemorate President Kim Il Sung’s efforts for Korean Reunification), drive to Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Panmunjom, Kaesong City Walk, Koryo Museum (exhibition of valuable Koryo-era artifacts) , Korean Stamp Shop, lunch at Tongil Restaurant (travelers can order dog-meat soup for about 5 Euro), Sungyang Confucian Shrine (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Sonjuk Bridge (UNESCO World Heritage Site – Koryo Dynasty Stone Bridge, built in 1290), Manwoldae (UNESCO World Heritage Site – foundation of the old royal palace), dinner at a local restaurant, overnight at Kaesong Folk Customs Hotel (you sleep in traditional Korean style, on a mat on heated floor)
 


Day 10 (Thursday, 20th August)
Breakfast, Pakyon Waterfall, Kwanmun Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Ryongthong Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Anwha Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Lunch in Kaesong, Mausoleum of King Wang Kon (UNESCO World Heritage Site – 10th-century reconstructed King’s Tomb), Mausoleum of King Kongmin (UNESCO World Heritage Site – King’s grave from the 14th century), drive back to Pyongyang, Unjong goat farm with traditional mask dance of the farmers, dinner at a local restaurant, overnight at Koryo Hotel
 


Day 11 (Friday, 21st August)
Breakfast, Drive to Pyongyang Sunan Airport, Domestic flight to Samjiyon Airport (Mt. Paektu), Drive to the foot of Mt. Paektu, Walk / hike along Janggun Peak (tourists may have to take the local bus or the train to the peak. This will cost EUR 5-10 on the spot), Scenic view of Lake Chon (Heaven Lake), Picnic lunch, Paektusan Secret Camp (Birthplace of leader Kim Jong Il), Rimyongsu waterfall, Dinner and overnight at Begebong Hotel
 


Day 12 (Saturday, 22nd August)

Breakfast, Hiking in Mt. Kumgang, Singye Temple (Buddhist temple from the 6th century, destroyed during the Korean War, rebuilt in 2004), Kuryong Waterfall, Lunch at a local restaurant, Samil Lagoon, Dinner and overnight at Oikumgang Hotel
 


Day 16 (Wednesday, 26th August)
Breakfast, drive along the East Coast to Hamhung (2nd largest North Korean city), lunch at a local restaurant, Hamhung city tour (incl. former “Wilhelm-Pieck-Street”, Mount Tonghung, Kumchon Pavilion, Hamhung Wall, Sonhwa Hall, Ryangchon Temple), Dinner and overnight at Majon Beach Bungalows
 


Day 17 (Thursday, 27th August)

Day 19 (Saturday, 29th August)
Breakfast, walking in Inner Chilbo (Sungson Pavilion, Pangum Pavilion, Naegyong Pavilion, Kaesim Temple), Check-In and lunch at Homestay, Optional boat trip on a fisherman’s boat (surcharge RMB 40 per person to be paid on the spot), Optional Folklore custom experience in home stay (volleyball game and/or Korean wrestling with the locals, Making Korean food, bonfire at the beach / surcharge of EUR50/group to be paid on the spot), Dinner and overnight at Homestay Village (hot water in a bucket available during the morning)

 


Day 20 (Sunday, 30th August)

*Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery and Mansudae Grand Monuments are no ordinary tourist places anymore, making it increasingly difficult for tourists to visit these sites. It is impossible to know beforehand whether the group will be able to see those places. Therefore, please keep in mind that a visit is intended, however cannot be guaranteed. If visits are impossible, other sites will be included instead.
