If you travel alone and don’t book a single room, you will share a double room with another participant of the group.
The visa fee of EUR 50 is not included in the tour fee and has to be paid in cash during the pre-tour meeting in Beijing on the day before the tour.
Chilbosan-extension (7 days / 6 nights) including domestic flight and 4 nights in Chilbosan / Chŏngjin.

Day 0 (Monday, 12th August)
14:00h (2pm) – Obligatory pre-tour meeting of the group in Beijing’s Yi Beiping Beijing Story Restaurant (PDF). Handover and payment of your North Korean visa. Pre-tour briefing. Complementary Chinese-Korean Dinner (1 meal per person is included in the tour fee, extra drinks have to be paid individually). Train passengers take the night train to Pyongyang departing Beijing Railway Station at 17:25h.

 


Day 1 (Tuesday, 13th August)
13:05h (1.05pm) – Departure for flight passengers to Pyongyang with Air Koryo from Beijing Capital International Airport (Terminal 2), 16:05h (4.05pm) Arrival in Pyongyang, Transfer from the airport into the city centre, Arch of Triumph (built in 1982 to commemorate the return of President Kim Il Sung to Pyongyang after the end of the Korean War), Orientation walk in the city centre, Kim Il Sung Square, Vienna Coffee House, Dinner at a local Restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 2 (Wednesday, 14th August)
Breakfast, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monuments (giant bronze statues of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il)*, Chollima Statue, Lunch at a local restaurant, Ride on the Pyongyang Metro (the world’s deepest metro system), Pyongyang Film Studios, Dinner at Pyongyang Hot Pot Restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 3 (Thursday, 15th August)
Liberation Day – 74th anniversary of the liberation from Japanese occupation
Breakfast, Kumsusan Palace of the Sun (Mausoleum of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il)*, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery*, Lunch at a local restaurant, Kwangbop Temple (Buddhist temple of the Koguryo period, destroyed by US bombs in the Korean War, rebuilt in 1990), Walking along Kim Il Sung Square, Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 4 (Friday, 16th August)
Breakfast, Mangyongdae Native House (Birthplace of President Kim Il Sung), Lunch at a local restaurant, Tower of the Juche Idea (built in 1982 to mark the 70th birthdays of President Kim Il Sung), Monument to Party Founding (built in 1996 to honour the Worker’s Party of Korea), Dinner at Pyongyang Duck Barbecue Restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 5 (Saturday, 17th August)
Breakfast, Drive to Pyongyang Sunan Airport, Domestic flight to Samjiyon Airport (Mt. Paektu), Drive to the foot of Mt. Paektu, Walk / hike along Janggun Peak (tourists may have to take the local bus or the train to the peak. This will cost EUR 5-10 on the spot), Scenic view of Lake Chon (Heaven Lake), Picnic lunch, Paektusan Secret Camp (Birthplace of leader Kim Jong Il), Rimyongsu waterfall, Dinner and overnight at Begebong Hotel

 


Day 6 (Sunday, 18th August)
Breakfast, Samjiyon Grand Monument, Samji Lake, Lunch at Begebong Hotel, Domestic flight back to Pyongyang, Sightseeing in Pyongyang, Dinner and overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 7 (Monday, 19th August)
Breakfast, Walk through newly-built Mirae Scientist Street, Drive to Pyongsong, Paeksong Revolutionary Site (site where Kim Il Sung University hid during the Koran War), Lunch at a local restaurant, Drive to Mt. Myohyang, Ryongmun Cavern (huge underground cave with fascinating rock formations), Dinner and overnight at Chongchon Hotel

 


Day 8 (Tuesday, 20th August)
Breakfast, Pohyon Temple (Buddhist temple of the 11th century), International Friendship Exhibition (huge underground exhibition of state gifts given to the DPRK leaders by international statesmen and business people), Lunch at Chongchon Hotel, Drive to Pyongyang, Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 9 (Wednesday, 21st August)
Breakfast, Drive to the Demilitarised Zone in Panmunjom, City walk in Kaesong, Koryo Museum, Korean Stamp Shop, Lunch at Tongil Restaurant (you can pre-order Dog Meat Soup for around EUR 5), Drive back to Pyongyang, Reunification Monument (built in 2001 to commemorate the efforts of President Kim Il Sung for the Korean Reunification), Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 10 (Thursday, 22nd August)
Breakfast, Drive to Nampo on the Korean West Coast, Sea Barrage (giant dam regulating the water level of the Taedong River), Drive to Mt. Kuwol, Sahwang Peak, Drive to the city of Sariwon, Lunch at a local restaurant, Orientation walk, Songbul Temple, Sariwon Folk Street, Jongbang Fortress, Dinner at overnight at Hotel 8th March

 


Day 11 (Friday, 23rd August)
Breakfast, Drive to Sinchon, Museum of US War Atrocities, Drive back to Pyongyang, Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Museum of the Korean War), USS Pueblo (US spy ship captured by the Korean People’s Army in the territorial waters of the DPRK in 1968), Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

 


Day 12 (Saturday, 24th August)
Breakfast, Visit to Pyongyang Gold Lane Bowling Alley, Drive to Wonsan at the Korean East Coast, Lunch at a local Restaurant, Beach visit in Wonsan, Dinner and overnight at Tongmyong Hotel

 


Day 13 (Sunday, 25th August)
Breakfast, Drive along the Korean East Coast to Mt. Kumgang, Lunch at a local restaurant, Chongsokjong Rock, Formations Dinner and overnight at Kumgangsan Hotel

 


Day 14 (Monday, 26th August)
Breakfast, Hiking in Mt. Kumgang, Singye Temple (Buddhist temple from the 6th century, destroyed during the Korean War, rebuilt in 2004), Kuryong Waterfall, Lunch at a local restaurant, Samil Lagoon, Dinner and overnight at Kumgangsan Hotel

 


Day 15 (Tuesday, 27th August)
Breakfast, Drive back to Wonsan, Lunch at a local restaurant, Drive along the Korean East Coast to Hamhung (2nd larget North Korean city), lunch at a local restaurant, Hamhung city tour (incl. former “Wilhelm-Pieck-Street”, Mount Tonghung, Kumchon Pavilion, Hamhung Wall, Sonhwa Hall, Majon beach and pleasure ground, Ryangchon Temple, Hungnam Fertiliser Complex, Hamhung Grand Central Theatre), Visit to a beach on the Korean East Coast, Dinner and overnight at Majon Beach Guesthouse (beach bungalows)

 


Day 16 (Wednesday, 28th August)
Breakfast, Drive through the Pujon Highlands, Visit to Pujon River of Rocks, Okryonsan Revolutionary Site (revolutionary site in the anti-Japanese guerilla struggle), Lunch at a local restaurant, Drive back to Wonsan, Visit to Songdowon International Schoolchildren’s Camp, Drive back to Pyongyang, Dinner in a local restaurant, Overnight at Koryo Hotel

Day 18 (Friday, 30th August)
Breakfast, Drive to the airport, 10:00h domestic flight to Orang Airport, 11:00h Arrival in Orang Airport, Picnic lunch at Mukye Lake, Soryanghwa Waterfall, Drive along the coast to Chilbosan, Dinner and overnight at Outer Chilbo Hotel (with cold spring water from the tab, hot water in a bucket available during the morning).

 


Day 19 (Saturday, 31st August)
Breakfast, walking in Inner Chilbo (Sungson Pavilion, Pangum Pavilion, Naegyong Pavilion, Kaesim Temple), Check-In and lunch at Homestay, Optional boat trip on a fisherman’s boat (surcharge RMB 40 per person to be paid on the spot), Optional Folklore custom experience in home stay (volleyball game and/or Korean wrestling with the locals, Making Korean food, bonfire at the beach / surcharge of EUR50/group to be paid on the spot), Dinner and overnight at Homestay Village (hot water in a bucket available during the morning)

 


Day 20 (Sunday, 1st September)
Breakfast, Walking in Outer Chilbo (Manmulsang area, Dokgol), 8km hiking to Kangson Gate with wonderful view over Outer and Sea Chilbo (depending on weather), Lunch at Outer Chilbo Hotel, Drive to Kyongsong (optional hot tab bath), Jipsam Revolutionary Site, Continue to Chongjin, Dinner and overnight at Chongjin Guesthouse

 


Day 21 (Monday, 2nd September)
Breakfast, Pohang Square, Foreign Language School, Riding a chartered trolleybus, Lunch at Sailors Club, Provincial library, Visit to Chongam Kindergarten followed by a musical performance, Enjoying the overview to Chongjin on Komalsan, Dinner at a local restaurant, Overnight at Chongjin Guesthouse

If you choose outbound flight option on Day 23, the flight will be provided by Air China.


*Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery and Mansudae Grand Monuments are no ordinary tourist places anymore, making it increasingly difficult for tourists to visit these sites. It is impossible to know beforehand whether the group will be able to see those places. Therefore, please keep in mind that a visit is intended, however cannot be guaranteed. If visits are impossible, other sites will be included instead.
